ONE PARTISAN DEMOCRAT

replaces another.  The similarity here is that both are extremely good a seeming to be fair, and seeming to put their deep biases in favor of the "home team" behind them.  And they certainly make gestures at being fair that others don't even try.  So it turns out that only those with a great understanding of the  game can see just how slanted is the playing field. 

And they're both genuinely nice guys, when so many journalists simply aren't.  Who can argue with that?
